Marilyn's Story: Feeling great at 80

It was a surprise to find that my recent bone density test showed an improvement in the spine rather than further deterioration. Life is good!
~Marilyn M
Age 80
Marilyn sought out a personal trainer because she suffered pain while walking short distances. Chronic back pain from spondylolisthesis was slowing her down, but she had too much to do, including extensive travel, to give in to it.

Marilyn, found Tammy, who was moved by Marilyn's passion for action and adventure. Tammy developed a fitness plan that focused on core awareness and engagement while functioning in Marilyn's everyday life. Whether making her bed, putting away groceries, swimming, or walking, Marilyn's fitness routine keeps her aware of maintaining a neutral spine and good postural alignment in everything that she does. The result: after working with Tammy for only ten weeks, Marilyn walks pain free.

Tarine's Story: From diabetes to insulin-free thanks to my exercise program

My name is Tarine. I'm 40 years old and a single mom of two. I was diagnosed with diabetes about two years ago. As I started to change my diet, I went to a nutritionist so I could understand the foods I was eating and what to change. This helped a little with my sugars but not enough, so my doctor put me on medicine.

I wasn't happy with my progress, so I joined a gym. In the beginning it was very difficult for me. I could only lift 5-10 lbs on the weight machines and only stay on the Stairmaster for less than ten minutes. I dreaded the gym but, through determination and the will to beat this disease, I continued to drag my butt there every morning.

As time went on it got easier. I got stronger and was able to stay on the Stairmaster longer. After about 3 months I finally started to see results. My sugars went down and I started to lose weight.

Two years later and 50 lbs lighter I'm finally medication free. I really love the gym now. I turned my diabetes into a positive. If I didn't get I then, I wouldn't be as healthy as I am today. I thought I couldn't change my ways but I did.

I hope my story inspires somebody. Find something to motivate you and you'll be able to make a healthier you. Nothing is impossible! I've done it and you can do it too.
